Sprint Routine + Article Sharing

So I made it. I survived Hurricane Irene. I mean, to be honest…I thought we would get it a lot worse. I know that some other parts of Massachusetts got hit hard, but where I am located? Not AS bas as I thought and by 3:00pm…it was over. Womp womp.

It was also hard to believe we experienced a hurricane when Friday night started out with beautiful weather
So I survived my first hurricane. I will spare you all pictures of the event because I am sure you have been bombarded on other blogs and facebook and twitter!

I kept busy this weekend, had some great workouts, did some food prepping and I am all ready to start a brand new week! Speaking of which…I have my last two days of work this week! After Tuesday I will be free as a bird until I start my new job (next week) It will be so nice to have a week off to chill, relax and catch up on life. Everything has been moving a mile a minute so it will be nice to just…do nothing.

Saturday I came up with a new treadmill sprint routine to share with you all! As you know, this is one of my all time favorite forms of HIIT training so here it is!

First I made sure I was properly hydrated

***You can stop here, or if you are feeling up for it repeat Minutes 5-15 for a total of 35 minutes (including the warm up) Be sure to COOL DOWN as well!

If you aren’t feeling this routine, you are working out at home, or just want something new, you can also try out my leg plyo routine video!

Then I made sure I was properly nourished
  • Brown Rice
  • Spinach/Broccoli
  • Ground Turkey <---seasoned with turmeric which is SUCH a good spice.
  • Sprinkled with TJ’s 21 Salute Seasoning

Then I got dolled up to hit the city. Looking very intense apparently. I love Instagram. It can take a photo and make it anything from fun to mysterious to flashy to crazy to eccentric. I like the ‘mysterious’ look of this picture.

So on a whole other topic, I came across this article/video. It is entitled “Women who are Too Toned: Is it a bad look?”  Some critics have been telling women to ‘tone it down’ when it comes to muscles and overall muscle tone. This video/article really made me so angry. Some women work damn hard to achieve muscle tone and muscles and then they get blasted for it? I will not be approving of that, no way.  I believe that what’s important is that we all feel comfortable in our own skin-whether that be with muscles, without muscles, short, tall, skinny, fat. However you choose to be and what you strive for is YOUR choice and you should be happy and not ever feel looked down upon because of that. How dare critics criticize these celebrities for having ‘too much muscle’

Question:
What are your thoughts on this topic?
How did you stay busy during the hurricane (if it hit where you were!)
