New Protein, New Restaurant, New Leg + Cardio Workout!

Hiii! How was everyones weekend? Mine was lovely! I was out and about and all over the place, but thats what long weekends are for right?

I enjoyed a delicious ‘reward’ meal that I must share! This was enjoyed at the Ames Hotel in Boston. They have a restaurant inside this swanky hotel called “The Woodward” It is a beautiful restaurant/lounge/bar in the Financial District of Boston. It is described as a “modern day tavern” and has a very vintage feel, perfect for a night out on the town. The restaurant is  filled with dark wood accents and the tables have all sorts of vintage trinkets inside of them that you can see through the glass tops. I feel in love with the entire atmosphere immediately. It felt very “Sex in the City”
The island Creek Oysters were being ordered first and foremost. I remembered my first oyster experience and they were so darn good! I knew this would be the place to get them again. They are local oysters from a town on the South Shore and said to be the best of the best
We also decided on the feta and watermelon salad with shaved fennel and pickles grapes. Oh my. This was screaming my name. The combination of fresh watermelon and salty feta? There was so other option of an appetizer in my mind. I also love fennel. It has a slightl licorice flavor that adds such a great flavor to any dish that it accompanies.
The picture does not do this salad justice. It was such a large portion and it was incredible. The feta was so extremely fresh and creamy and not overpowering. The watermelon was slightly sweet and the fennel just put the entire dish over the top for me.
And if you were wondering about the oysters? I have no words. They were served with homemade cocktail sauce and a ginger/lemon sauce.
I split the cod for my entree and again, it was just incredible. This was local cod with a few different types of mushrooms and baby potaoes. It had a meidera sauce which was light and not at all salty which I was so pleased with! You could tell, this was local. The second a fork went to the fish, it nearly fell apart. It is the type of dish that really doesn’t need a whole lot of extra flavor to taste its deliciousness and freshness.
Woodward: 10/10. Naomi: Happy gal

What else did I do this weekend? Went to the Cape! When in the Cape, you just have to head to one of the local flea markets. Its a tradition
And you can find fun items like this little elephant! We didn’t purchase it, but it sure was a sight to see and would definately be quite the conversation piece at someone’s house!
I also got a ‘new to me’ protein! I had heard great things about this Healthy n’ Fit Nutritionals Egg White protein powder. Since I am always looking for new proteins, and trying to stick away from whey so much (it has been hurting my tummy) I tried this new kind! I got the chocolate flavor because well, when it comes to protein powder, I am more of a chocolate gal.

Chocolate Protein Shake
  • 1 scoop Healthy N Fit Nutritonals Egg White Protein Powder
  • 1 C water
  • 1/2 C almond milk
  • 6 ice cubes
  • 1/8 tsp each xanthan and guar gums
  • 1 tsp udo’s oil
  • 2 tsps unsweetened cocoa powder
  • pinch stevia
  • 1/4 C oats (added afterwards)

Verdict? I liked it! I didn’t LOVE it. I still am extremely impressed and love OlympianLabs Pea Protein, but as an alternative, I think it is really tasty! I would give it a 7.5/10. It blended well (In the blender) so I don’t know how it would be just mixed up in water. It wasn’t at all clumpy and came out smooth and frothy.
Oh do you want a leg and cardio workout? Ok great I have one for you! This would be an intermediate/advanced workout. If you are a beginner, give it a shot but only go through teh circuits 2 times, not 3. Make this workout work FOR YOU. Adjust as needed, take breaks as needed and be sure to stay hydrated!
