New Larabar Flava Review AND its FRIDAY!

YESSS its friday! finally, we made it through another week, can ya believe it?? ok, ok yes I can too, but I am just so thrilled! Today work started at 5am so I am already out for the day, pretty sweet huh? its also sweet that I can workout AT work! today’s workout was a 4 miler on the treaddy. I did 4 miles in about 38 minutes! I was very happy with this time, and the workout FLEW by. I think that is partly due to my new tunes that I loaded on my ipod and also that I do intervals on the treadmill. I never keep 1 speed, I am always switching up the incline and speeds!

Oats w/ a side of TJ’s peanut butter!

breakfast was eaten shortly after, now I would have snapped a shot of my work oats but its not all that pretty so I will share my bowl of oats from yesterday! (I have basically the same thing at work, but its in an ugly tupperware!)

Can you see the white specks in there?? thats an egg white! Yes, an egg white. I add an eggwhite to the mix right before the oats are done, I just crack it right in there and stir, stir stir that baby and it cooks in about 10 seconds!
we got here 1/2 C oats blueberries, strawberries, chia, cinnamon, 1/2 sliced banana…UHMAZING!

remember how I told you how my mom has been adapting all these interesting recipes from me?? well this is MY MOMS BREAKFAST!! I thought it was such a good idea!!
3 eggwhites
1 trader joes low carb tortilla
spinach/brocolli/lowfat cheese
she made it like an egg quesadilla!
brialliant, mama!!

After my workout yesterday (SPIN!) I made an awesome post workout smoothie. I have very little time in between when I come home and when I need to be at work so I always make this and take it on the go!

in the magic bullet, blending in action!
-handful frozen raspberries
-4 large chunks of frozen mango
1/2 C unsweetened almond breeze
-packet truvia
-large dollop of cottage cheese
-water/ice
THE PINK MONSTER!!!

Later yesterday evening (after lunch, which I couldn’t snap a pic of b/c technically we are not supposed to have our camera at work and it was too busy!
I had the chance to dig into this green beauty!!

The apple pie Larabar!!
I have not tried this flavor yet, and I have YET to try a flavor that beats the banana bread!

  • as you would expect, this lara bar is chock full of cashews, almonds and dates. The second I cut open the package an aroma of cinnamon fills the air, I cannot WAIT to get this in mah belly!!!
  • First bite: SUCCESS!! very delicious. It didn’t have as much as a heavy apple pie flavor as I expected, which was actually a pleasant surprise. It was not too heavy or sweet tasting and had the perfect balance of cinnamon in there to keep me coming back for more!
  • I ate half of the bar because I also had a greek yogurt and apple and this was not even in my plans to eat but it was just staring at me in the eye, so I HAD to try it!

Today’s Snack and Lunch So far!
I cannot believe it is October 2nd already!! The second October hits the temperature drops 20 degrees! Sometimes, its tough being a New Englander, during this time of year we sometimes get cranky 🙂
anyways, I was chilly and was in the mood for some warming comfort, and I knew what form that would come in! I was craving one of my famous grilled wraps with tuna and veggies!!
BEFORE I GET TO THAT THOUGH….
For my mid morning snack, I had the other half of that Larabar I know I just had to finish up, thats just sad leaving a half of a bar sitting in the wrapper!
sorry, this picture came out a bit blurry!
  • Fage 0% greek yogurt
  • half apple pie lara bar
Had an apple on the side too!

When I came home, it was lunch time and SO ready for that wrap I was dreaming about, crispy and warm! I searched around the fridge for some mustard and all I saw was just plain ole’ Dijon mustard. We had honey mustard too, but I was not in the mood for something so sweet . I took a peek in our ‘extra jar’ cabinet where we keep all the extras we buy and Look what THIS foodie found!
Braswell’s Slelect Horseradish Mustard that looked too good NOT to open up! It’s in quite a fancy jar I hope my mom isn’t planning on giving it away as a gift!
its sooo creamy and delicious!! Not too tangy from the horseradish, its just a perfect balance of mustard with a a ‘kick’ and mustard with a sweetness

This was a great wrap, however I added the cucumber in there because I thought it was add a fabulous crunch. I didn’t think about the cucumber being heated up and what that would taste like. This will NOT be happening again. The warm cucumber just rubbed me the wrong way, and tasted somewhat like seaweed salad that I order a a Japanese restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE seaweed salad, but this is not the flavor I was going for, ya know? OPPS! Foodie Mistake!
  • 1 Josephs low carb wrap
  • baby spinach
  • tomato slices
  • 1 laughing cow wedge
  • some NEW mustard
  • some slices of cucumber (bad idea being heated up!)
  • Tuna salad (made from 1- 3 oz can tuna, horseradish mustard, greek yogurt, diced celery)
  • some mustard and apple cranberry chutney from TJ’s on the side to dip!
Salad on the side!-Perfection! I love simple salads!!

**what is in YOUR dream salad??**
  • Baby Spinach
  • tomato
  • cuke
  • broccoli
  • carrot (its in there I promise!)
  • walnuts (not thrown on there yet!)
  • Simple balsamic vinegar and mustard combo for dressing!
Ok Bloggies, Just finished lunch and watching Sandra Lee on the Food Network. Sandra is so corny and most of her food isn’t that appealing to me, but I will watch any cooking show! and need to run to bloomingdales to pick up a  pair of jeans I got last week on pre-sale…I may just take a peeksy around too, I mean a girl can look right??
***Who is your favorite cook/TV show on the FOOD NETWORK??**

Your wraps are always so creative. The mustard looks yummy.

I love Sandra Lee. She can’t cook to save her life! I’m convinced she’s drunk every episode. I mean, come on, she spends more time on her cocktail recipes than her food! Have you seen the Halloween episode where she dressed like Elvira?! I’m pretty sure she was plastered.

Happy Friday. I hope you have a great weekend!

Nick and I watch TONS of food network shows, or even just food shows. We watch Top Chef and Hell’s ktichen most. I also watch Throwdown and Iron chef 🙂

The banana bread Larabar sounds delicious!! Now if they only made pumpkin bread, I’d be all over it.

I can’t stand Sandra Lee. She doesn’t cookie! She takes 2 premade things and puts them together, what’s that? My favorites are Rachael Ray, Paula Dean, and Bobby Flay

  5. Jenny says:

I am all about Giada.. aka, the cleavage chef 🙂 I also love food network nighttime — unwrapped, iron chef, good eats.. they all make me hungry!
