Shake well and Smile Often!!

hey gals!

feeling SO much better today! I think I kicked the sniffles and woozy feeling out of my system thanks to my trusty Cold-eeze and Grandmothers Horid ‘get better’ drink.

The day started off with a Dr. appointment at 8:30 am. This went well! Its been way too long since I had seen my Dr. (about 2 years!) so I made it a point to make an appt this month and I got right in there (we all know how those Dr. office wait lists can look!) Turns out I am UBBERLY HEALTHY!!!

I made this beautiful concoction the night before to grab with me in the car to my appointment!

They were oh so happy sleeping together in their tupperware overnight!

In The overnight mix
  • 1/2 C oats
  • dollop each of cottage cheese & greek yogurt
  • vanilla extract
  • PB2
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • almond milk/water
  • Added in the morning: blueberries and strawberries, packet truvia and PB!
Ah with the PB-MUCH better picture!!
I forgot how delicious and convenient overnight oats were! I haven’t made them in SO long. I acutally sometimes get up earlier JUST to make my stove top oats! But this was a great breakfast that fueled me for the morning and kept me full for a while! I will certainly be making it again! Tomorrow perhaps??
*Whats your favorite “add in” to your overnight oats?*
On my way back from the Dr. I stopped at Peets Coffee, which is SO much better than Starbucks!! I am in love.
Taken at a red light! I promise I was not driving!!
(if you look in the background there is a go green bag from Whole Foods! I try to do my part to bring my reusable bag and get 5 cents off!! sawweeetttt)
The coffee was sooo good and not too strong because I am not a strong kinda gal when it comes to coffee! It was just a boring old medium coffee with some skim milk (and splenda) Not hapy about this, but I forgot my Truvia packet!!
I also stopped at Whole Foods, another one of my long time loves and got this which I added in my Peets! This creamer is the best.ever. It is made by silk and I have mentioned it before in a previous post and it seriously is life changing if you like soy products and are a coffee drinker.
Silk French Vanilla Soy Creamer! Look at the label on there!
“Shake Well & Smile Often”
LOVE THIS TOO MUCH FOR WORDS!
I also picked up this soup in a box (SIAB) I do not mean to steal Kaths abberviation for SIAB, which to her is Smoothie in a bowl-It just happens to be the same abberviation for Soup In a Box!
This is made by McDoughalls. It is gluten free, vegetarian, vegetable soup!! It looked so great and the nutrition facts were great and it was so convienient to take to work to have with dinner tonight!
I shall be giving a full report later I promise!! (that says 75 calories,  0.5g fat, 14g carbs, 440mg sodium, 3g protein, 4g fiber–the whole box has 2 servings)
I made this wrap for lunch today
Josephs lavash, garlic and herb laughing cow, lettuce, sprouts, honey mustard
Tomatoes and grilled chicken breast!!! I cannot wait to dig into this at lunch time!!
Onto another topic for a hot minute. I picked up the new Oxygen Magazine which I often read for some new workouts or recipes. being in the fitness industry it can be a great resource for some good programs and it has some very interesting articles I enjoy to read and cut out to keep for future reference. This O2 was a collectors issue entitled  “Off the Couch” the entire magazine focused on motivation and HUGE success stories of women who were extremely unhealthy and completely turned their lives around using exercise and nutrition to their benefit.
it is truly inspiring to read some of these women’s stories and their struggles and then look at the before and after pictures. Some of them looked like a completely different person!  The woman on the cover lost 339 lbs!! This woman started making small changes in her life like eating a wholesome breakfast and swapping chicken for red meat. She incororated clean cooking into her lifestyle. She joined a gym and fell in love when she started seeing results. She used music to motivate her during her workouts (which I think really does work to bump up the intensity!!) and setweekly goals for herself!
This got me thinking about what motivates me to workout and stay/eat healthy?? I came up with this list!
  • I love going to the gym and being usually, one of the few woman that take weight training seriously. I love the looks I get from men (not in a creepy way) but in a ‘wow, that girl is strong’ type of way

  • Exercise reduces stress like nothing else can! And when I am stressed, I know that exercising will help to set my mind at ease.

  • The feeling I get after a good workout is the best feeling in the world. It is a feeling of accomplishment and happiness (and usually filled with a delicious post workout meal!!)

  • Exercise and eating healthy will ensure that I live a long healthy life and enable me to run aroudn with my grandchildren!

  • I love how my healthy eating habits have rubbed off on my family! They always turn to me when they cook something healthy saying “Naomi, You won’t belive what I made! it was a fitfoodie meal!!”

  • Working out helps me tremendoulsy with my self confidence. Knowing I can run 10 miles without stopping is something I am very proud of!

  • My baby will be healthy because studies have shown if you are pregnant and exercising your baby will have a very healthy heart!

  • Lastly, Eating healthy, cooking and exercise MAKES ME HAPPY!
**What motivates you to exercise/eat healthy???**

Glad to hear you are feeling better!

My family history motivates me to work out- we have so many weight-related diseases including diabetes and heart disease that scare me into being healthy!

I also can’t lie that I love the way it makes me feel- both energetic and accomplished when I bust out a good workout!

So glad you feel much better 🙂 and you are a healthy chicken!

Where do you get the lavash bread from? Do you think I could find it in a normal shop?
    xx

I totally agree with you.. I am also motivated to exercise because it simple puts me in a better mood! I figure, also, there are soo many things we cannot control in this life, I am going to take care of the one thing I can control.. my health and my bod!
NEED to find that lavash tortilla.. looks so yum and easy to fold!

I get motivated simply by the way it makes me feel. It’s like an addiction! I just love being healthy and fit, it makes me feel good 🙂

Favorite add in to overnight oats, PEANUT BUTTER! Like you, I love it. It’s the key factor to any bowl of oats.

Thanks for the sweet comments on my bloggie 🙂

And that creamer looks like The Bomb! Me and soy are kind of on the dont get along list, but I may just have to break all the rules and try it. I love french vanilla creamer and the coconut vegan one by So Delicious is So Expensive for the size so this may work. How would you compare it to say CoffeeMates French Vanilla if you’ve ever had that?

Girl I may be high raw and all vegan but I love my coffeee!!!!

I always add a ‘pinch’ (meaning what I can pick up with my thumb and pointer and middle fingers) of dark chocolate chips to my overnight oats! They are delish, satisfy my need for something sweet so I don’t have to put in any sweetener, and they are antioxidants! YAY for overnight oats!

I love coffee and I love it strong! Peet’s rocks!

I like Oxygen mag and would love to compete in a figure contest one day. I just have to get the figure 😉 The stories are very inspirational. I’m motivated for just about every reason you listed. Mostly just because I like the way it feels and I feel like it’s my hobby. Everyone needs a hobby!

My favorite add in to oats is fat free cottage cheese, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.

    Glad you’re feeling better!

  9. ksgoodeats says:

Woohoo for the clean bill of health! Congrats 🙂

That soup sounds really good – I hope you like it! I’m glad I’m not the only one who carries Truvia packets around. A girl needs her sweeteners!

My future motivates me to live a healthy life right now. I want to be around forever!

YAY that you’re feeling better! I’m pretty sure it’s because of your chipper mood and your good eats!
I want to live a healthy life so that I can ENJOY life to its fullest and do all the things that I wanna do! 😀

I know exactly what you mean about strength training at the gym!

I’ve recently got more serious about running, and I feel so accomplished after a long run. Nothing beats that feeling!

  12. Allison says:

Happy to hear you’re feeling better!! 🙂 I use that same Silk creamer too and everytime I see that line on the top it really DOES make me smile… that or I’m thinking how goooood its going to be in my coffee. YUM. I’m motivated by the way I feel all the time just by eating healthy & exercising regularly… I always have more energy & I’m naturally just a happier person because of it 🙂 Happy Friday!

Hi Naomi! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog…I like your too! (about to add you to my blog roll)

The one thing that motivates me to stay fit is honestly how great I feel. I used to weigh 220 lbs and refuse to go back to that place…I love being known and the active/healty one in the family lol.

I never made overnight oats but I have made “protein cookies” which I love..I usually make mine with Chocolate Protein Powder, PB, Splash of Milk, Banana, and Oats =)…YUMS

thanks again for checking out my blog

  14. Missy says:

I’ve never made overnight oats before! I need to try that! Yours look so good! The wrap you made looks great too! I workout for the same reasons as you! It makes me happy and gives me energy!

  15. Caroline says:

I totally agree with what motivates you to eat healthy and work out. I feel so much better over all when I am being healthy, my skin, my hair, my weight, my mood. If I eat poorly I am more likely to snap at my boyfriend or get down in the dumps. It’s like taking a happy pill going for a run or doing yoga. I also like that it’s total me time, everyone needs that at least once a day!

  16. Jhonny walker says:

I agree with all of the above..ALL..okay except maybe the last one ( I have no plans as yet :)) reasons for working out. And I take strength training seriously too 🙂 its definitely useful!

  17. Jenny says:

mmm over night oats are the BEST! nothing like going to be knowing your favorite ingredients are getting cozy and just waiting to be eaten in the morning!

what motivates me is knowing how I will feel after the fact — sometimes its tough for me to find the motivation to hit the mat for a yoga session.. but i always feel amazing afterwards, so I let that feeling be my driving force 🙂
