Well Bloggies happy SATURDAY! It is one rainy, gloomy day here in Boston. It is easy to get down in the dumps on these gloomy days, but like I had said before, despite the weather I try to stay positive and upbeat and don’t let the weather get to me so much! AND its a great day for blogging with a delicious cappucino under a cozy blanket (which I may or may not be doing right this moment)

I will start off with a LONG overdue product review. I received these Dr. Krackers  before my trip and snapped shots, as well as tried them, but I didn’t have time to post it, so here it is

A little history:
Inspired by the delicious traditional flatbreads of Germany, our Dr. Kracker crackers are made with a blend of nature’s best organic whole grains and seeds, then yeast-raised and artisan-baked to perfect crispness.

Our Flatbreads and Snacker Krackers are 100% percent natural, and USDA certified organic. We bake with whole grains and seeds, and none of our crackers contain trans fats. From Pumpkin Cheddar to Seedlander, there’s a seriously delicious Dr. Kracker for everyone in your family.

The goods.
  • Apple Crisps
  • Seedlander
  • Hummus Maximus
  • Klassic 3 seed
  • Cherry Semolina
  • Pumpkin Chedder
  • SUnflower Chedder
  • Seeded Spelt
  • Fire Roasted crisps
Ingredients: organic whole grain spelt flour, organic pumpkin seeds, organic millet, organic agave syrup, organic sesame seeds, organic spelt bran, organic molasses, organic flaxseeds, organic poppy seeds, yeast, sea salt, organic barley malt syrup

Large seeds including poppy, sunflower, pumpkin and sesame

Paired with some delicious gouda cheese.
I LOVED these crackers. They were so nutty and noticibly thicker than your average cracker. They didn’t break apart like others and held their shape well! I also loved these because they were not salty 1 bit. It frustrates me when crackers are too salty, and these were perfect. I loved the texture of all the different seeds on the crunchy craker itself. 8.5/10

Thursday night I decided to make homemade greek yogurt inspired by Tay.
I purchased some plain yogurt a la Stonyfield
I put in in a colainder which was lined with paper towel
let it sit for 24 hours and VOILA!

It didn’t taste exactly like Chobani or Fage, but it became noticeably thicker and creamier!

This was all the liquid (whey) that was strained out.

——————–
Friday started off with an awesome spin class at 9:00am before I had work at 11:30. It as amazing. I am seriously in love with the instructor. As a spinning instructor myself, she is my role model. She has amazing energy and such motivation as she teaches. Not to mention her music is awesome!

I made this smoothie after class and drank it on my way to work

Scoop of this

This (plus some almond milk and skim milk. Delicious, cool and refreshing
I didn’t snap a picture of my lunch because it was the same old boring wrap and salad that I normally eat.
But I was so excited to munch on this beauty! One reason I DO love the winter!

Clementines!

He was happy it was Friday, like me!

I also broke into these. Kay’s Natural Butter Twists

Golden, buttery and delicious! I loved the little pretzel’s. They were the perfect size to throw on this

Chobani plain yog, 1/3 C pumpkin and pumpin pie spice= pumpkin yog with golden buttery twists

mmm Perfection
Later on I munched on these

Yes, this is hummus…But it is not any hummus

Dessert Hummus- PEANUT BUTTER HUMMUS
I got two free container samples of this hummus at the Boston Vegetarian food festival, I chose the PB and maple walnut flavors. The ingredients are all natural and include chickpeas, evaporate cane juice, peanut butter, safflower oil, peanut butter extract.
It was delicious. Smooth and creamy. It didn’t taste like PB you would eat out of the jar but there was certainly a PB flavor in there! I was thinking of all the concoctions I could use this hummus with in my head!
This morning I woke up and made a great bowl of oats!

with 1/2 banana, blueberries, strawberries, water and walnuts

Cafe Britt French Pressed coffee with skim
Jason made his famous Belgium waffle with syrup, strawberries and whipped cream
Jason and I always tend to eat different things, especially for breakfast!
Do you and your significant other, or parents (if you live with them) eat different things when you prepare meals? Do you Think you have motivated your significant other or parents to eat healthier?
I went to the gym for a great workout!
  • 20 minutes on the step mill (the BIG stairs
  • ab circut (ball roll outs, reverse crunches, russian twists, pike on the stability ball, full sit ups with 6lb med ball
  • Weight circuit (reverse fly, squat with a med ball toss, backwards lunges with 15 lb body bar, tricep rope extensions, cable backrow in lunge position, squat w/ a bicep curl on cable machine) x2
I then, came home and put together this Post workout treat!
1/2 C cottage cheese, 1/2 C Kashi Go lean, 4 cut up strawberries, cinnamon…mmmm
After a shower and blow dry it was lunch time!

Salad with Foods Alive Italian zest flax crackers and balsamic glaze.

Josephs lavash wrap with fresh roasted turkey tomato, lettuce and Peanut butter hummus! (honey mustard to dip) WOW, I loved the use of the peanut butter hummus in this wrap! it was sooo good and sweet!

I went to Forever 21 (did snag 3 cute items! two tops and 1 flannel dress) and now I am back at Jasons. We are going to dinner tonight with his brother, sister and brothers fiance. It should be a fun time! i have no idea where we are going yet!

What are you all today this lovely Saturday?? I want to hear exciting things!!!

xoxo

    PB hummus…now we’re talkin!

And your seedy crackers look sooo good and wholesome!

Today’s yoga class…girl, god it is so nerve wracking teaching at a new place. You called it!
It was a good class but I had everything in there from 4 women in their 60s’/70s, 1 newly pregnant young lady, and some people who did not belong in a higher level class, and 2 girls who belonged in a way higher class than this. So it was a stressful hodgepodge but I got thru it 🙂

What do you do in those situations?

  3. Katie ♥ says:

Yes the PB&J Larabar is good!! U must try it for sure!! I love forever 21, lucky girl going and getting some shopping done, I need to go there soon!!! xoxo

Oh HECK yeah I’ve motivated Nick and my parents to be healthier. Actually, my mom got me on eating healthy foods when I was young, so I can really thank her. Nick is a very healthy eater, most of the time, but certain things I bring home he won’t even try.

I love the carrot and hummus combo, and those crackers sound great! I;ll purchase some if I see them. I don’t eat a lot of crackers but these look like ones I would really enjoy.

  7. Jil says:

That’s crazy how much whey came out of the yogurt! Those Dr. Kracker crackers look delish — I actually saw them in Marshalls, of all places, a few weekends ago. I totally should have picked up a few boxes.

  8. Andrea@WellnessNotes says:

The crackers sound great. And I love of course the cheese you ate with them… 🙂 (That’s probably why the crackers excite me so much – an excuse to eat some cheese!).

No exciting weekend plans. I hope you enjoyed your dinner! 🙂

  9. eatmovelove says:

I love the cappuchino under a blanket idea…I’m under a blanket watching campy TV (uh, America’s next top model…don’t judge)…with ice cream…yeah not warm – but still cozy 😉

  10. Lizzy says:

  17. Simply Life says:

I ALWAYS want to try the Dr. Kracker products but they’re pretty expensive in the store so I end up choosing something else – but now I’m tempted even more. Everything looks great!

  18. april says:

I’m jealous of those pretzels! I’d love to have high protein ones!! haha.

And I always say I do the stairmaster but I guess it’s called the stepmill??? I use the revolving staircase one!

  19. katherine says:

I love your idea of straining the Stonyfield. I bought a tub of Stonyfield last week and I’m just not a huge fan of the texture. This might be the answer to my woes!

  20. eaternotarunner says:

The hummus looks awesome! I was at the Boston Veggie food fest and didn’t see that 🙁

Yes, I definitely cook differently for me and my boyfriend (he doesn’t like vegetables). But since we moved in together he has lost 15 pounds just from eating a little healthier with my cooking!

  21. Sharon says:

I am excited to try these recipes…they look delicious. I think whole grains are a very important part of a diet. I feel so much different after swapping out refined carbs for whole grains. Here are some recipes and health facts about the different whole grains out there: http://www.shar-on-nutrition.com/?p=362

Feel free to leave a comment or question! 🙂

  22. Sylvia says:

My husband and I are turning over a new leaf and looking for healthy recipes.. I’m definitely adding this one to the mix! Sounds amazing! Thank you for all the pictures too, it’s always nice to know what the finished product should look like.
