HAPPY 100th POST TO ME!!!!

Can you believe its the last Wednesday of 2009? This year just went by So fast (as every year does) its just amazing, how time can just move so fast. For me, this has been a wonderful, memorable year for many reasons

  1. I started my Blog!
  2. I met my wonderful boyfriend
  3. I landed a more stable position in my company
  4. I got my ACSM personal trainer certification
  5. Got my SPINNING certification
  6. I got my new Jeep!
  7. I went to Costa Rica for my Cousins wedding
  8. I started enjoying different foods and also enjoying myself alot more because I stopped being so rigid. It has made me more open minded when it comes to food.
In 2010
  1. I hope to start thinking about graduate school (or even take classes) for Nutrition
  2. Take motorcycle lessons and get my license to ride!
  3. Continue to cook up amazing food!
  4. break out in my own personal training business
  5. Move out of my parents house
  6. Continue to have that strong relationship with my parents, family and boyfriend
  7. Try a new food every week!
  8. Read more! (shooting for a book a month!) or longer if its a long one.
Breakfast of oatbran and a trio of nut butters-sunflower butter, Crazy Richards, Naturally More.

THen I went to the gym for a personal training sesh with my trainer. It felt extra hard today because I think my body is tired. I need to give it some rest. I was going to stick around for some cardio but opted against it to give my body the rest it needed! (most gains are made OUTSIDE of the gym!)

Came home and had this yogurt/cottage cheese combo with 1/2 sliced gala
With some Kays Natural protein cookie bites

The star of my lunch…THis may be my new favorite food in the whole world at this moment-Pumpkin Spiced chickpeas

Atop of salad with balsamic vinegar. I had a slice of the When Pigs Fly low carb bread and some sliced roasted chicken on the side!

I got my package that I won from RoseyRebecca’s Blog! I won gingerbread Coffee!!
Whole bean too…I love the smell of fresh ground coffee, I cannot wait to grind this up!

I have been seeing a few places in the blogosphere when ladies talk about weight training in the gym. Many women are scared of weight training in that it may ‘make them look big and bulky’ Let me tell you something–weight training will not only speed up your metabolism but it will also jump start your weight loss and make for a more toned physique.
  • Strength training creates strong ligaments and tendons, which serve to support our joints and decrease the likelihood of injury from other activities. Bone density increases dramatically, reducing our risk of osteoporosis.
  • You will see an increase in resting metabolism. Because of this increase, women who are trying to reduce bodyfat will do so more easily. When done sufficiently and consistently, strength training increases muscle fiber size. Once muscle fibers enlarge, they consume more energy – which boosts our metabolisms.
  • The vast majority of women cannot build large muscles because they are genetically incapable of doing so. It is impossible to turn fat into muscle, or muscle into fat, as each cell is unique from the other.
I urge all of you, women to incorporate strength training into your daily routine!! Check out my “Exercise” portion of my blog for lots of great ideas!! Please email me with any questions!!!

XOXO
  • What is 1 goal of yours for 2010
  • What is 1 memorable moment of 2009
  • Do you strength train? what is your favorite body part to work?

Happy 100th! You sure have had a great year and looks like you have wonderful goals for the new year. Except for the motorcyle riding. Sorry, as a mom, that scares me. Wear your helmet!!! LOL!

Anyway, I am planning on more strength training this year, too. I want to tone up the jiggle 🙂

    Happy New Year!

    Congrats on 100!
Great goals. I especially love the one about trying new foods. I think I want to make that mine, as well as new cooking techniques.
I am awful at strength training–such a cardio person!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!! 100! Woo Hoo!!!
And Happy New Year too, Naomi!
One of my resolutions is to try a new food or recipe per week, I can’t wait to share what we come up with!
And your cottage cheese looks amazing. I wish dairy didn’t upset my tummy so much. BOO!!!

  8. Newly Nutritional Britt says:

The feeling of 100 must be great! I just recently started and can’t wait to see my progress at the 100 mark. =]

    A resolution:
Incorporate much more into my life. I’d like to have a schedule.

    Memorable moment:
Celebrating the year mark with my boyfriend. I’ve never been happier and more open in a relationship and am thankful to have him in my life.

I don’t do very much strength training, again why I need to up my exercise regime in 2010. I do like doing strength yoga though. My abs are probably my favorite to work because I like the results I get the most in that area.

Here’s to a couple hundred more! A goal of mine for 2010 is to ride my bike more! I’m sure my joints wouldn’t mind that one too much either… 2009 was pretty special because I met my rock star of a boyfriend! I do strength train and I believe that it has made a HUGE difference in my speed, strength (obviously), and my appearance! I feel like my body has made massive changes (for the better!) since I started incorporating strength training into my routine! Have a very happy new year Naomi!

yey!! Ccongrats on your 100th post! Very awesome! Also I think its great you are listening to your body and giving it rest when it needs it. I think that’s key! My favorite part of my body to work is my stomach. I love all kinds of abs exercises. For some reason it makes me feel so much stronger and I feel like my posture is better when I do. Have a good night girl!!

The most memorable moment for me in 2009 was when Nick quit dipping and using tobacco. Seriously, what more could a girl ask for?!

Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve!

  13. Kacy says:

Sounds like you had a great year girl!

Goal for 2010: Run another race.
Memory of 2009: my brother’s wedding in Hawaii

I love training my back and shoulders!

Have a good New Year’s girl!

Happy 100th to you. I just had mine too. It;s so exciting. Looks like you had lots of good stuff going on in 2009, and lots more good stuff planned for 2010. Happy New Year!

My goal for 2010 is to exercise 4 days a week (my issue is time!!!). My most memorable moment of 2009 was my wedding and honeymoon. I do strength train and my fave part is triceps, but I like working my glutes too.

  15. Julie says:

happy 100th!! wooo hoo! that’s very exciting 🙂

i neeed to make those pumpkin spiced chickpeas pronto! i’m thinking tomorroww! hopefully we have a can of them!

  16. Erin @ Big Girl Eats says:

I started strength training more seriously in the past two months and I absolutely love it. It’s imperative to improve your body, strength, and mind too! Great post and great goals for 2010! Happy New Year’s Eve!

  17. One Healthy Apple says:

Wonderful post, Naomi! I think it sounds like a good 2009 and a fabulous 2010 is in order!

I am guilty of slacking on strength training, but I am trying to get back to it. I used to be really big on it and gained quite a bit of strength. Now I am working on incorporating more into my workouts and learning to love it again! My favorite strength is shoulders and back because I feel like I can see those results best. I hate tris and despise legs 🙂

    Happy New Year!
