Hey guys! One day closer to the weekend, thats all I think about when I think about Thursdays. My day was very good! It was definitely in my benefit to take my active rest day yesterday, because I knew I had a 4 mile run to do today with the running club where with some of my clients! I LOVED your comments yesterday regarding running tips and also where you have traveled. It sounds like you all are VERY well traveled! One thing I do want to clear up is that I am not running the Boston Marathon! I got some emails and comments wishing me luck, but I am in no way prepared or ready to run a marathon! I have so much respect and admire the marathon runners and of course I will be cheering them on, but this FitFoodie has a WAYS to go before that accomplishment!
It was a protein pancake kind of morning. I got started by putting my ingredients in my magic bullet!
- 1/3 C oatmeal
- 1/3 C + 1 TBSP egg whites
- 1/3 C cottage cheese
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 scoop BSN cinnamon roll protein powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 2 TSP cinnamon
I blended everything up. It was a bit thick today, so I added some water to thin out the batter a bit
I spooned out the batter to try to form equal cakes! Cooking away
Glorious. This batter made 5 ‘cakes. I used 1/2 banana in 2 of the pancakes (on the right) The hearts had greek yogurt/cottage cheese mixture in 1 and SF syrup in the other
MMM Banana pancakes. I love how they get pillowy, marshmellowy and golden
I decided to thaw some frozen berries and add them to the mix
Yes, I used my fingers, Hey, I was eating alone! (Sorry for the close up of sweet cottage cheese, Janetha)
I got to work and right away had my run! I did 4 miles in 36 minutes! This is great time for me. I am in no way a FAST runner, but I do love running, very much. There is a certain feeling I get when I run, like no one is in my path and its a sense of accomplishment-every run.
Running always makes me think of this Friends episode:
Hilarious!!
4.0 miles, 418 calories and some foam rolling later, it was time to dig in.

As my mind wandered I started thinking about choice when it comes to food and why so many people choose to critisize others when they are trying to eat healthy. Let me explain. As you know I was at a wedding this weekend On Sunday there was a brunch. There were many options of food to eat at this brunch buffet. As I wandered around looking at my choices, this is what I observed
- Eggs benedict with holladaise sauce
- Blintzes with sour cream, berry filling, and cheese
- Hash browns
- eggs
- Bacon/Sausage
- Bagels, cream cheese, lox etc
- Fresh fruit
- Cereal selection (raisin bran, special K, Corn flakes, granola)
- Dried fruit
- Pastries, breads, muffins
- Whole fruit (bananas, apples, pears)
- Cheese plate
Me, being me and eating how I normally eat, I grabbed a raisin bran, banana, some extra fresh fruit on the side, skim milk and some dried fruit to throw in the cereal as well. This is a normal, typical breakfast for me. Buffets do not scare me at all. The “hot” part of this food buffet and the pastry table just doesn’t appeal to me-in all honesty! I would rather eat foods that I know satisfy me and don’t make me feel yucky afterwards. I went to sit down at my table and continued to eat. Some comments I got
- “Whoa, Your being so healthy Naomi, you have to indulge a little!”
- “Oh man, you’re making me look so bad!!”
- ” Great choices, but you are so missing out!!”
- “How do you stay so good!?”
I really didn’t know what to say to any of this. Eating the pastries and blintzes and hollandaise covered eggs are NOT for me. This food does not appeal to me, and eating the breakfast I had in front of me in no way was me being “good” it was me simply eating. We all have choices in front of us and it is up to each individual how to eat, what to eat, and really do to whatever they want. The fact that I had a ‘healthy’ breakfast, was to me no big deal, and something I would eat any other day. Just because this indulgent food was under my radar, does NOT mean I have to eat it!

Ok I just was thinking about that today and now I have vented…thank you for listening
Some snackage a little later. 1/4 C oats with strawberries and 6 oz greek yogurt
Organic apple!!
Dinner was leftovers! I <3 leftovers
With leftover grilled chicken from when I was at Jasons. I steamed up some brussels sprouts and sweet potato and threw them in a tupperware with the grilled chicken! This was SO delicious!
A little piece of sandwich thin with PB and raisins for a sweet treat!
