The Perfect Size

THank you all so much for the comments on my moms birthday! She finally figured out how to comment in the comment section, so when it popped up in my email that she commented it made me laugh (We are talking about the woman who leaves notes around the house so she will remember things)

Anyways, thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. She was beyond psyched that you all called her Mama FitFoodie!!  I just found my camera (I had been using my iphone this past week) because I couldn’t find it but I finally found it! I am jumping for joy because those iphone pics were getting to be a bit yellow and I was really starting to miss my camera! Last Friday, Jason and I went to dinner at my brother and his Girlfriends apartment. If you don’t already know, my brother is quite the chef. He has always had a love for cooking and entertaining. His food is always amazing. You just do not mess with him when he is in the kitchen!
Besides the fact that when we walked in, I could barely see my brother and his girlfriend because they somehow seemed to have smoked up the whole apartment with their cooking, my brother was busy whisking away
There were some appetizers of crackers, cheese, carrots and hummus
First he unveiled the roasted veggies he made. This was a combination of cauliflower and red onion
And back to the sauce. On the menu was roasted chicken, sweet potato mash, salad (that I made!) roasted cauliflower and red onion and fruit and yogurt for dessert.
We have a joke in my family that started a LONG time ago form Thanksgiving. For some reason my mom always named the turkey, but it wasn’t as if the turkey had a different name each year. It was the same name. Every year. His name was Joey. SO, whenever someone in my family cooks a chicken or turkey we have a habit of calling him Joey. WHen my brothe rwas in college, he wanted to know how to roast a turkey, so he called up my mom and goes “Mom, tell me how I ca roast a Joey” This in no way is meant in a cruel way, it was just a funny family joke that has never died! Above is our Joey
Plated roasted turkey. It was covered in Thyme and garlic. It was so delicious!\
Roasted cauliflower and red onion
Our buffet. Yes we served it on the stove.
My contribution. I made a simple green salad with green apples, cucumbers, red pepper and dried cranberries. Yes it was a wierd combination but I didn’t have a whole lot of time beforehand to make some fancy schmancy
Mashed sweet potatos (which I found out later were sweet potato and cauliflower combined!)
My plate.  A nice piece of white meat chicken, lots of salad and veggies! To be honest, I tried the mashed sweet potato, and NOTHING against my brother, but I have never been and will probably never be a fan of mashed anything. I like big chunky pieces of potato rather than mashed. Everything was DELICIOUS though!

Back to this morning
I love the shape of this bowl! I can’t believe I haven’t used it in so long! I cooked up 1/2 cup liquid eggwhites and placed them in the bottom of the bowl. I topped it with some fresh mixed berries (about 1/3 cup)
Nothing fancy here, just pourin’ on!
Lettng some fresh berries peek out from underneath!
And some natural lighting!
Perfection. By far my most favorite meal of the day!
Some veggies were eaten somewhere mid morning
Along with a juicy plum! They are the perfect size for the amount of fruit I want!
When I came home it was lunch time! This looks like a tiny ramekin, but I promise its a big bowl.  I never noticed it looked so miniture until I took the picture!
Some baby spinach, heirloom tomatoes, red pepper, cucumber and spinach with grilled chicken
And now I am enjoying a pumpkin protein shake (no pumpkin in here, just the pumkpin pie spice)

The cutest lil pears I have ever seen!!
Again, they are the perfect size for me!
Not to mention DEEELICIOUS!
HAPPY FRIDAY!!! You can all “OHHHH and “AWWWWWWW” to this:
Me and my brother Circa 1989. I guess I didn’t turn out to be that doctor. But I would like a lick of his ice cream right now!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
