Well, this week has turned out to be WAY busier than I envisioned, and when that happens, sadly blogging takes a back seat. I love blogging. I love the people I have ‘met’ the advice, sharing of knowledge, recipes, workouts, life thoughts and I miss not being able to blog everyday, however as much as I love it, it is a hobby and I will try to be in as much as I can!!
Well yesterday marked the first night of Hanukkah. You can read my post from last year about being a Jew on Christmas (or really being a Jew this time of year) The other day I was driving home from work, channel surfing on the radio and 5 stations that I went to all had Christmas music on them. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy some Christmas music specifically Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is You” but I feel that this year there is an overload of Christmas music on the radio. I am also very confused about Josh Groban. I was tweeting the other day about him. I think he has a wonderful voice, I really do, but is it me or does he just appear around Christmas time? Its like he is the voice of the holiday. I don’t see or hear him ANY other time of the year. Just wanted to throw that out there.
No, I don’t open presents on Christmas, and there is no big rush for Christmas shopping. I light the candles on Hanukkah and make potato latkes (I want to make sweet potato ones this year!) I love my heritage and religion and wouldn’t want it any other way. As we get closer to the actual day of Christmas, there will be more red and green and holiday music and craziness in the malls etc. I have already had multiple people say to me “so what are you asking for this Christmas” “well” I say “I’m Jewish, so I don’t celebrate Christmas” “ohh…umm…so sorry” they say back and get all awkward.
I am sharing this with you all for multiple reasons. one being to just be aware of those around you. Everyone is different and believes in different things. I have to remember this especially this time of year and be conscious of the fact that not everyone celebrates Hanukkah like me or christmas, there are other holidays and religions as well.
I love getting to know all of you and want to share my deepest thank you for your support and coming back to my blog each day (even when I don’t post) I want to wish everyone a safe and happy holidays, no matter what you celebrate (or don’t)
And now I will leave you all with Adam Sandler’s Hanukkah Song
