Hey friends and Happy Sunday! The Patriots just won so it is a happy Sunday indeed! (I have to admit I am not the biggest sports fan, but of course its always good when my hometown team pulls out a win, right?)
Did you all get a chance to make pumpkin oats for breakfast?! If not, you must so check it out from my previous post and also this post about incorporating protein powder into meals OTHER than protein shakes!
So to recap on a very happy event that took place last week that I must blog about because well, it involves LOTS of delicious food. Last week was the Jewish Holiday, Rosh Hashaha which represents the Jewish New Year. It is this holiday where we celebrate with friends, family, tons of delicious food and the celebratory apples and honey (symbolizing the sweet new year) Each year we have family and friends over at my parents house. It is such a joyous, memorable, festive event that my parents have been doing for 10+ years.

The food is always of abundance at Rosh Hashana. If any of you make it over for a holiday meal, I gaurentee you will not leave hungry, and leave with plenty of leftovers!
Of my my favorite dishes at Rosh Hashana is the Brisket! A family friend makes this every year and I always look forward to it. It is cooked with shallots, sweet onions, mushrooms, dried cranberries and of course the meat itself. The brisket just falls apart as soon as it touches a fork!
- Brisket
- Noodle kugel
- Asian Qunioa salad (which I need to replicate!) it was sweet, made with sesame oil and was garnished with carrots, almond slivers and dried cranberries.
- Chicken Marbella (My all time favorite chicken recipe and you can find it here!
Roasted potatoes with rosemary
Salad and more chicken marbella!

All together now at the food table! I snapped this shot right before everyone almost ran me over for the food
And there they go!
Ok, so please don’t hate me but I didn’t take pictures of the dessert buffet. It was late. I was tired. It was delicious. HOWEVER. I did take pictures of the most amazing peanut butter cookies that I made (of course from Miss Jessica) I went with her Puffy Peanut Butter Cookies
Want to know how hardcore I really am? I made the batter to these cookies during my last week of show prep. My mom wanted me to make the batter ahead of time so it was ‘out of sight out of mind’ and then the day of the party, all she had to do was cook them. Being the greatest daughter that I am. I made them. On Friday, 2 days before my show. Do you want to know what the first ‘instruction’ was? To melt peanut butter and butter in one bowl. Do you know what the smell of melted butter and peanut butter smells like? Yeah…likeeee heaven. But I did it.
And I doubled the recipe. Double the butter. Double the peanut butter. Gah
Stick to the plan. Stick to the plan
Sugar on sugar on butter on peanut butter. And you’re wondering how they turned out?
Really? You need to ask?
I love getting together with family and friends to celebrate such joyous occasions. The group of people my parents have over is such a tight knit group of friends and family, it is always so great to catch up.
On the fitness front: I am doing great! Getting back into the swing of things, feeling strong, eating healthy, balanced meals and can’t wait to kick off another fabulous week. This winter I am going to be playing around with my workouts and nutrition and really worked toward my next goals, so I will be sure to keep you all updated throughout the process.
Are you looking for a great workout for tomorrow? Check out the drop set shoulder and leg workout that I posted the other day. Its a great one to bust through a plateau, its fun, effective and efficient! <---thats what I am all about!
Have a wonderful Sunday Night!
